Naturally Free Starter is a Verified Non-GMO and Certified Organic product. We use a blend of Pacific Northwest grown whole grains from Certified Organic Farms throughout the region.   As soon as your chicks hatch, they will be hungry for feed that is formulated to provide them with the nutrients they need to grow strong and healthy. Our Organic, Naturally Free Starter Feed is a special blend of cracked organic grains, organic flax and organic camelina meal, wild caught fish meal, necessary vitamins and minerals, and freshly pressed organic flax oil.   This feed provides baby chicks with enough protein to jump start their growth without adding unnecessary stress to their bodies. Plenty of vitamins and minerals provide chicks with the tools they need for healthy development.   Naturally Free Starter contains no medication or antibiotics as we believe a healthy diet and a clean environment are the most important things for your birds’ health. Many chicks that come from hatcheries have already received vaccines to help them survive the conditions of large scale farming practices.   Practicing other healthy flock management methods can help your chicks throughout the first few months of life without the use of a medicated starter. Putting apple cider vinegar into their water and mixing Diatomaceous Earth with our Naturally Free Starter Feed are excellent options to help ensure your little hens stay happy and healthy. Be sure to provide Chick Grit from day 1 through three weeks of age before transitioning to the larger, Grower Grit.

Feeding Information: Naturally Free Starter Feed should be used from day 1 until approximately 8 weeks of age for laying birds. Broilers are recommended to switch at 4 weeks to the Broiler Grower. Be sure to offer Chick Grit in their brooder as free choice or scattered in the bedding. Chick Grit is necessary for optimal gizzard development to aid in digestion and maximum nutrient absorption of the whole grains.   Please offer plenty of fresh water not directly next to starter feed to prevent “beak clumping”.   Some chicks may need to be shown how to eat and drink. To teach your chicks how to drink, carefully dip their beaks in water. Do the same with their starter feed so they can learn what food is.   Add Chick Grit to their feed by sprinkling a little bit on top. Grit stays in the chick’s gizzard and helps them digest their food.   Ducklings can also eat Naturally Free Starter. You will need to mix additional niacin for these growing waterfowl. We have 20 mg (44 ppm) in our Starter and the recommended amount for water fowl is 27 mg (60 ppm) until they start laying eggs at which point the recommended amount drops down to the level of all of our poultry feeds of 20 mg (44 ppm). Brewer’s Yeast (human grade) contains approximately 5 mg of niacin in one tablespoon so that can be used as a top dressing to their feed.
